Ambassadors Bass Club of Mobile, Ala. is a Christian club whose
objective is to experience Christian fellowship among its
members and to promote the sport of bass fishing. Members are
from various churches in the Mobile, Alabama, area, and the club
has been in existence since 1983. We fish a monthly club
tournament the third Saturday of every month except December.
The location of the monthly tournament is selected by the
members at the Thursday night meeting before the Saturday
tournament. Each month we launch from a different location in
the Mobile Delta system based on where the fishing and the water
seems to be best at that time.
Every year, usually in the spring, we have a threeday
overnight tournament at a large, well known lake outside of the
Mobile area. In 2003 we fished Lake Guntersville, and in 2002 we
fished Lake Martin. Once a year, we hold a charity event for the
benefit of a worthy charity selected by the membership. The past
several years we have organized a charity tournament for the
benefit of St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
Our 2003 St. Jude tournament, which was held on October 11,
2003, ended up clearing over $5,900 after all payouts. Each
tournament participant received a goody bag full of various
lures and fishing tackle donated by our sponsors, and most
participants won door prizes donated by sponsors.
Our club is a member in good standing of the Mobile Bass
Association. Each fall our top six members fish the MBA City
Championship tournament. We have both boaters and nonboaters in
our club, and we are looking for new members. Anyone who is
interested can contact Brian Dodge, our club
president, at (251) 957-2212, or Bill Williford, our club
secretary/treasurer, at (251) 661-9849. Club dues are $12 per
month, and the club dues are used to pay for a yearly awards
banquet (spouses included) and Christmas party, plus pay for our
lodging expense during our yearly overnight event.
We invite potential new members to visit our club and to fish
with us as a guest at one of our monthly tournaments.
