Four Lakes Bass ClubWe are a small bass club that was
originally started as a group of employees with Walker
Manufacturing in Aberdeen, Mississippi. As the club aged in the
company, it began to allow non-employees to join and fish.
In/around 2001, Walker Manufacturing shut down it’s operation in
Aberdeen, Mississippi and the bass club members decided to keep
the club active, albeit a name change. We decided to rename the
club from The Walker Bass Club to Four Lake Bass Club because it
reflected upon the four pools of the Tenn-Tom waterway that we
fish (Columbus, Aberdeen, Amory and Smithville pools).
Each year, we fish a schedule of eight regular tournaments
where we collect our points for our angler of the year title. At
the end of the year, we have our club’s classic. This is our big
payout tournament, where we pay out all the money in our club’s
collection from the entry fees paid during the year. We try to
encourage beginners in our club, as we feel that it is great
starting place for family and friends to be introduced into
tournament bass fishing. Our club membership typically runs
around 20 members. Currently there are only a few of the
original members that fished as Walker Bass Club (three active
members). We have a select set of rules concerning equipment,
conduct, and eligibility for fishing in our Classic.
Each year we try to have a club cookout or meeting at a
restaurant where we encourage family members to come and meet
everybody. This past January, we adopted the rules to allow
family members to fish in the same boat, although competing
against each other (encouraging wives and kids to join). We
currently are not affiliated with any organization and do not
have any sponsors. Occasionally we might get prizes donated to
give out at our tournaments, such as our classic, but we do not
carry any obligation to advertise.
