Rhode Island Bass Anglers Association

The R.I.B.A.A. was founded in 1979 by six fishing buddies who’s vision was to create a club that focused on the small boat, weekend angler. In the early years, the club was a free-to-join group that was limited to 15 members and conducted six to nine “friendly competition” contests per season, with the only prize being bragging rights. As word spread around our local fishing holes and more and more fishermen wanted to get in on the fun. So our club made the decision to expand membership, implement yearly membership dues and offer prizes and trophies to tournament winners. Today we are proud to say we have over 50 members from all walks of life sharing fun, friendship, competition and a love for bass fishing.

Community Activities
Our members commit themselves to a variety of activities including charity fishing tournaments, shoreline cleanup, take a kid fishing events and educational seminars.
Good sportsmanship is the foundation and future of our organization and our sport. Instilling in young anglers the importance of proper catch-and-release techniques, preservation and conservation of our precious wild resources and offering a helping hand to those less fortunate in our community all help insure a bright future of our sport and our communities.

Club Events
We believe an integral part of our clubs’ success is our willingness to include families in all club activities. In addition to our tournament schedule, we host non-fishing get togethers throughout the year, giving anglers and their families the opportunity to share in food, fun and friendship. Events are varied and include softball games, barbecues, attending professional sporting events and potluck dinners.

Plans for the future
Our club is fortunate in that our core membership has remained constant throughout our 29-year history, but realize the importance of recruiting new members with fresh ideas to bring to the table. With this in mind we have recently gone global, via the world wide web, and set up a club website. Our bass fishing forum is now online and open to members and non-members alike. We welcome all who share in our passion for the sport of bass fishing to join in the discussion and offer fresh insight and ideas that we hope will help us all become better anglers.
