Northeast Mississippi Bass Club
We are a new Mississippi Bass Federation Nation club for 2010 with our affiliation to B.A.S.S. As Kevin VanDam would say, “We’re bringing sexy back.” At present we are the only MSBFN club in northeast Mississippi. Our membership is growing at every meeting with interest from anglers of all ages. Our goal is to bring back the fun to the sport of tournament bass fishing by promoting a family-friendly atmosphere. We want to be where you want your kids to grow up and learn from some of the best locals while at the same time trying to put the beat down on your buddy.
The next generation is the key to the future of bass fishing and there is not a better way than to take our families, kids, and friends fishing while teaching conservation and the love for the great outdoors. We have already contacted the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks and offered our free assistance to help with the stocking of bass on our home lake of Columbus this year and every year afterwards as well. I was pleased to find out that they said they would love for us to help in their efforts as times are hard for everyone and resources are limited. I would like to encourage every club out there to contact your state fisheries as well and to ask and offer your assistance to help with local stocking of bass.
Our club will be fishing the Tenn-Tom Waterway with events on Pickensville, Columbus, and Aberdeen where the big bass love the grass. We will also have tournaments on Smithville where the big spots start to show up along with the largemouth. In addition, we will fish Bay Springs for some of the best magnum spotted bass in the state of Mississippi, and of course, we are fishing Pickwick where those world famous smallmouth bass come in to play. These tournaments will test the versatility of all our anglers.
For all of their hard work and dedication throughout the year, we will present our Angler of the Year and Co-Angler of the Year with plaques to commend them for their efforts. At the end of the year we will also have our club Classic for all who qualify and our Classic Champion will also receive a plaque.
In addition our club will form up to a 12-man team based on points standings to compete in the Mississippi Bass Federation Nation State tournament. We look forward to the challenge and the opportunity to advance as far as the crown jewel of bass fishing--the Bassmasters Classic.
Our club is fortunate enough to have a local business, Mitchell Distributing as our sponsor. They will be providing us with Sqwincher and Crunk!!! energy drinks at all of our events including our opens. I encourage you to try these excellent products. We will have two open team tournaments as fundraisers. You can fish these as a team or by yourself. There will be a Double Big Bass pot included with the entry fee. The Crunk Lunker Award and the Crunk Big Bass Award. The first will be The Sqwincher Open on Bay Springs on May 29, 2010, and the second will be The Sqwincher Open on Columbus July 24, 2010. Free Sqwincher and Crunk!!! Energy drinks will be provided for all of our contestants by Mitchell Distributing. We are also proud to have Culprit as a club sponsor. Check out their quality products online and see. http://www.culpritstore.com.
We would like to invite anglers from the northeast Mississippi areas of Columbus, Aberdeen, Amory, Smithville, Fulton, Tupelo and surrounding areas to come fish with us.
