Summer 2008

Magnolia-Tomball B.A.S.S. Club

This dynamic club grew out of the inspiration of a couple of guys who met on a parking lot of a service station on a rainy afternoon to swap some fishing gear. A few days later one called the other and suggested the need to form a club in our local community. The wheels were set in motion and with weeks there was a kickoff meeting. Many of the potential members expressed the desire to belong to a club closer to home. Some of us were driving as much as 40 miles to meetings of our previous clubs. Some had no previous club experience but liked these club objectives.

It was decided at the outset that this club would be focused on community service, kid activities and competitive bass fishing. Associated with the SETEX Div of B.A.S.S. Federation Nation, MTBC became an official club December 1, 2007. We held our first club tournament that same Saturday on Lake Conroe, Texas. We had 20 members present plus their family and friends. We set up a bassboat at Decker Prairie Elementary Fall Festival where we had over 200 children casting for fun and prizes in October 2007. That sealed the deal, we had found our passion.

Another significant club event came before we were official and it was the Wounded Warriors fishing event on Choke Canyon, Texas in early November. We took part in a heartwarming few hours with the wounded service personnel from the U.S. Army Medical Center at Ft. Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas. These brave young people enjoyed a few hours on the water and fishing far away from their hospital confinement.

MTBC has participated in the first three official tournaments with the SETEXDIV of the Federation and gained respectable points among the 17 clubs represented. We have taken part in the Lake Conroe conservation project replacing native vegetation. As a part of the Federation Jr.

Bassmaster Kid Cast Event held first of March at Bass Pro Shop Katy, Texas we worked with a number of children coaching and testing casting skills.
At our meetings we have over 30 adult members and about 12 members in the youth club. We have already exceeded our expectations in every aspect of our mission. We expect this year to be great for MTBC.
